my publisher asked for a photo for the back flap on Our Friendship Rules.
i submitted this:
not a photo but to my mind a much better story, the idea of me. and a story (not a yearbook picture) is what a reader comes to book for, isn't it?
i love illustrated author photos like this one grace did with origami paper. i'd love to see more. if you know of one or did one yourself, please post a link in the comments.
the art is finish (as of 6.01 am monday morning) and has arrived safe and sound at the publisher. it is out getting its photograph taken and i am cleaning the very untidy studio. so what now? besides catching up on my sleep and playing duplo with my toddler, there will be much updating of my website, including previews of art from Our Friendship Rules. Until then, here are two details from the book.
